Today I had the pleasure of seeing Mr. Keef live in Indianapolis. I’d seen him before at summer smash, and to be honest, I wasn’t terribly impressed. He had no energy at all and the crowd was not feeling it. I guess you can excuse him a little since it was outside, but other artists were able to engage the crowd under the same conditions.
Something changed in chief sosa today, though. My goodness what a show that was. One of the best setlists I’ve ever heard (if only he had played blew my high), he brought the energy for every track, and people actually seemed like they wanted to be there. Also, this crowd was a bit older than some of the crowds I’ve been around lately (slayr) — so they were a bit more mature. I only saw one guy in a hot dog costume.
Concert etiquette is in a weird spot since Covid. Sometimes I get tired of seeing people play geometry dash on their phones before the opener comes out. Soemtimes I get tired of people wearing costumes and propellor hats. Sometimes I get tired of people recording the entire show on their ds. I think it’s mostly due to the demographics that enjoy these sorts of shows. The underground is quite young right now.
Overall, king Sosa delivered.
Oh yeah, we also had the industrial round table today. It’s the sort of thing that you don’t *really* want to go to, but you feel some strange obligation anyways. The whole internship search song and dance feels a bit humiliating to me, and it was in full shine at IR. To be asked to wait in multiple hour long lines just to speak to a company for a lottery equivalent chance of an internship feels sort of asinine. I did actually secure an interview with a company that designs braking systems for trains. I spent 15 minutes talking to the recruiter and maybe only two of those were about my qualifications. The other 13 were spent on football and poker. Perhaps it’s nice as a recruiter to have a real human conversation rather than hearing the same elevator pitch a hundred times.
I think I do underestimate my qualifications a little bit. It’s easy to get caught up in the rat race that is internship hunting and see only the loud minority that have what seems like decades of experience over you. Some of these guys feel like they were bred for this, so you gotta find your “separator” some other way. It’s not always the worst thing in the world to be different than your peers.
