I've been gone for the past few days because I've been in Manchester at my friend's lake house. I didn't bring my laptop, so my thoughts for each day aren't super fresh. It makes more sense to just do an overall post rather than one for each day. On thursday, we went to the theater to watch the new spiderman movie. I didn't plan on ever seeing it on my own accord, but since my friends were going and since the tickets were only $7, I figured I might as well go. I haven't given marvel much thought since I was a little kid, and I've never been a massive fan of the superhero genre. So I may have had some inherent biases against the movie -- but man, that movie was not great. My main issue was with the dialogue. Some of the conversations, especially the ones with MJ (I really do not like her character -- or the quirky, smart, sarcastic character archetype in general. In fact, i felt a visceral reaction during the scene where the punisher describes her as, im paraphrasing here, "dark and kinda messed up."), felt ridiculously forced and left me wondering if the writers had ever actually.. had a conversation. I thought it was funny that Sadie Sink ends up basically playing eleven from stranger things. The real highlight of the movie, however, was the punisher. John Bernthal is accidentally the funniest human being on the entire planet, and I love how he plays the same character in every thing that he's in. I may be too irony-poisoned to take any movie that he's in seriously because all I can ever think of is TWD shane pleading to rick to let him tell him something.
To those of you who have been awaiting this post, I apologize for the delay. We should return to regular schedule starting now. I went and added some pictures to the pictures page. Go check them out. You might be in there.
