I've noticed, lately, a clear decline in focus and general quality of life. I have reason to suspect that this is a result of a life lived too stimulated and too pleasured. As a result, I plan to spend the next two weeks in a sort of "stimulation detox." That means:
Minimal phone use
Daily meditation
Mandatory wake time
No phone until morning routine finished
This isn't a punishment per se, although I wasn't particularly happy with a grade I received on a philosophy essay (which is what sparked this entire realization). It's more of an experiment. I want to push myself to the brink of uncomfortability -- just to see what happens!
I've still been journaling by the way. They have been more personal thoughts -- thoughts that I am not too fond on sharing with the world, but thoughts nonetheless. So don't think my lack of posting indicates a lack of thinking.
Aside from that, my progress in the gym has been steady. I'm back to being able to do 225 singles on bench press, and I have surpassed pre-summer-break numbers on most other lifts. I'm curious about some supplements, most notably creatine which I used to take but stopped once I got to school. I have read some studies which link it to higher brain function which I suppose makes sense; if you have more ATP reserves, then your most power consuming organ should operate more effectively.
